Harmless Living

Harmless Living

Do no harm as you live. Have respect for the animate and inanimate. This is a way of reverencing the sacred in nature. A believer does not have to practice Jainism or believe in reincarnation to embrace such ideas. It is true that Jains love the sacredness of life even in a rock, fly, or leaf. They hold that humans are the highest form of life, but by their behavior can ascend or descend the continuum of life. But our goal whether we are Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Daoist, or a Non-Believer must be to treat all life forms with the utmost respect. Such compassion will surely help in protecting our environment.
