From birth people are impacted

by the undercurrents of society.

As they grow to be adults they are shaped

by many circumstances beyond their control.

 

Indeed, these individuals have come

into the world with customs and traditions

that have existed for eons.

 

Like the Serenity Prayer many do learn

that there are some things about life

they can change, while there are others,

they are unable to do anything about.

 

If they go against some social norms

there can be devastating consequences.

So, many families just live with such paradoxes

if they wish to be at peace and happy.

 

Some people believe this is wise

under such circumstances.

As one professor used to say,

“Everyone has a price, but do not make yours too low.”
